Parachutes is nice but a bit milquetoast. Their 2nd album is an absolute classic and one of the objectively best records ever recorded. 3rd wasnt quite as good but had the same style and some top songs, so was still amazing. Viva la Vida is the peak for me though. They were playing with creative magic in that record. Every song is so unique and ethereal and amazing. Pure bliss. Who knows what the hell happened after that though. They tarnished their opportunity to be one to the top bands of the era, but hey they have a billion listens on that Chainsmoker song on Spotify so good for them I guess. I wonder if the decision to sell out was done out of necessity because they were out of original ideas, or if they just wanted a big pay day. Hard to say
1. Parachutes
2. X & Y
3. Rush of Blood to the Head
4. Mylo Xyloto
5. Viva la vida
Recent stuff practically unlistenable apart from “True love”. Would have got higher rating if hadn’t have sold out. Basically started out brilliant and went downhill from there
The 1st three proper studio albums were all classics so I'm judging them on that basis. Very good band with great songs.
The 1st two 'proper' albums, discounting EP's and live, are really good. X&Y starts well but fades, after that I'm afraid they lost me.
1. Viva la Vida
2. X&Y
3. A Rush of Blood to the Head
4. Mylo Xyloto
5. Parachutes
6. Ghost Stories
They started out bland as hell with Parachutes, but they consistently improved with every album up until Mylo. Then they just kinda ran out of ideas, I guess.
1. A Rush of Blood to the Head
2. Parachutes
3. Viva la Vida
4. X&Y
5. Ghost Stories
6. Mylo Xyloto
7. A Head Full of Dreams
I think most people would agree that it was all downhill from either parachutes or a rush of cold blood to the head
I mean, they used to be consistently good.
my favorite band. EVER.
